THOUSANDS OF LATINFEST FANS TO TAKE OVER WILLIS WAY

THOUSANDS OF LATINFEST FANS TO TAKE OVER WILLIS WAY

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE: June 25, 2012 (WATERLOO, ONTARIO) Neruda Productions

On July 14th the City of Waterloo closes Willis Way to traffic to allow organizers of the K-W LatinFest to expand activities beyond the town square. Neruda Productions, Tropical 88.3 Radio and Latin Life magazine are expecting a larger crowd than last year’s LatinFest which attracted more than 3000 visitors and helped establish the Waterloo Town Square as a site of culture and community activity.

The expansion of the festival along Willis Way will allow room for dozens of ethnic food and craft vendors, and community-group and sponsor tables, with the town square dedicated to festivities, the stage, a dance area, and a beer garden cantina serving some of Ontario’s finest craft beer and Latin cocktails.

“The 2012 K-W LatinFest will not only be bigger, there will also be more activities and more fantastic Latin music including two international bands,” says Isabel Cisterna, Neruda Productions’ Artistic Director.

“Top international bands like, David Alvarez & Juego de Manos from Cuba and Palo Cruzao from Colombia, will make the 2012 K-W LatinFest our best festival ever.”

The 2012 K-W LatinFest will launch with a free children’s mask-making workshop and concert at the Waterloo Community Arts Centre (WCAC) on Friday July 13th featuring the interactive children’s band, Taking Turns, and end with a festival after-party at WCAC from 11pm-2am for those who want to continuing dancing after the festivities in the town square wrap up Saturday evening.
