When: SATURDAY, May 6, 2-6pm
Where: Stage at Seven Shores & Kultrun Market, 8 Regina St North, Waterloo
Saturday May 6 Neruda Arts, Kultrun Market and Seven Shores invite the community to celebrate a free Cinco de Mayo Festival featuring art, live music and cultural activities for kids.
Neruda Arts began this event as a reaction to the stereotyping of Mexican Culture, Heritage and their citizens. It is our priviledge to present some of the most beautiful artistic expressions from a culture that is rich in diversity, art and ancient wisdom.
Top billing at the festival is Mariachi Mexico Amigo and other artists include Mexican dance troupe and more.
The FREE Festival will take place from 2-6pm in front of Kultrun Market and Seven Shores café on Regina Street in Uptown Waterloo.
Neruda Arts is the only dedicated world music presenter in the Waterloo Region. During the past 15 plus years, Neruda Arts has presented numerous Café Cabarets, Show the World Concert Series, festivals attracting thousands of residents and visitors, and workshops for emerging artists, youth, and various community groups. The organization’s programming celebrates diversity and its positive values; especially those core Canadian values of equality, social justice and respect for cultural differences.
MARIACHI MEXICO AMIGO, like the great City of Toronto, consists of a diverse mix of international cultures. Jorge is particularly proud of the fact that, although the band members come from all over the world, they respect and do their best to preserve the traditional style and sound of Mexico's great Mariachi music. Jorge is just as proud of his wife Yuri Lopez long standing participation in the band and her assistance in making sure the music is true to its roots.
