Antonio Carlos Jobim, (January 25th, 1927- December 8th, 1994) was the most important Brazilian songwriter and pianist. He was a primary force behind the creation of bossa nova style, and his songs have been performed by many singers and musicians within Brazil and internationally.
Widely known as the composer of “Girl from Ipanema”, one of the most recorded songs of all time, Jobim has left a large number of songs.
January 25th 2017 would be the legendary Jobim's 90th birthday. In celebration, the brazilian singer Fernanda Cunha released an album entitled “JOBIM 90”. Repertoire includes songs written (music and lyrics ) by Jobim: “waters of march”, “chovendo na roseira”, “ samba do avião”, “triste”, “vivo sonhando”, “fotografia”, and other less known like “Angela”, “Ana Luiza”, “Passarim”, and “two kites” ( english lyrics written by Jobim).
Fernanda Cunha will be touring many countries. In May she will be in Canada, and she will do a special night in Kitchener on wednesday May 24th accompanied by a great trio from Toronto featuring Reg Schwager on guitar, Pat Collins on bass and Tom Sczesniak on piano.
