Sultry Brazilian Beats

Sultry Brazilian Beats

For our first Show the World concert of 2014, Neruda Arts presents bossa nova artist Márcio Faraco with Philippe Baden Powell in the gracious surroundings of the Waterloo Region’s only authentic Spanish villa, La Hacienda Sarria! A Brazilian transplanted to France, Faraco has serenaded audiences from Rio to the Riviera with his delicate and masterful guitar playing and seductive vocals.

Philippe Baden Powell is a veteran of the Brazilian and international jazz scene and past winner of the prestigious Montreux Jazz Piano Solo Competition. Just listen to what Marke Andrews of the Vancouver Sun had to say about Faraco and Powell after their performance in 2012:

“Faraco kept the room spellbound with his tuneful originals which highlight his soft tenor voice and the interplay of acoustic guitar and piano. Faraco uses all five fingers of his right hand to coax rhythms from the guitar, and Powell was just as stellar.”

Together Faraco and Powell weave together the sounds of samba, bossa nova and choro with Portuguese fado, African rhythms, and Cuban beats embracing their audience in warm musical experiences.

Don’t miss this early evening performance by Márcio Faraco and Philippe Baden Powell from 6-9pm on Sunday March 16th at La Hacienda Sarria.
