Funk Lion

In 2011, when Haitian-Canadian singer-songwriter, Francis Brisebois, returned to his homeland to study traditional rhythms, aiming to create a sound that reflects the image of his double identity, The Funk Lion adventure began. Inspired by Caribbean music and psychedelic rock, he has worked as an arranger, composer and guitarist with well-known artists such as, La Bronze, Boogat, Samito, Maritza, Vander, Poirier, and many others.
In 2015, new songs began to emerge, and thanks to the support of CALQ, he recorded his first album with the help of Borza Gomeshi (co-production and mixing). Surrounded by Julien Senez (bass & sequencers), Anne-Sophie Coiteux (keyboards), and Anthony Pageot (drums). His first album “Cité d'or” was released on Kartel Music label on June 1, 2018 and his new album will be released in the Fall 2022.
His wild rock and psyche-delights, infused with afro-futurism, black-spiritual singing and voodoo-funk, narrates his story through music; a story that is a fusion of Quebec and the tropics. The live experience of The Funk Lion experience is like a psychedelic carnival without complexes.
