"The Rising Feminine - 2019 exhibition at Torchlight Tattoo"
This show will feature works that express - through their process of making or subject matter - the theme of “The Rising Feminine”. Artists will address this topic from whatever angle is most relevant to them, be it biologically, ecologically, politically, cosmologically, physically or spiritually. This year’s artists represent a diverse group of minds thinking about the implications of rebalancing the power dynamic on matters such as human rights, the environment, gender and race equality, education, family, infrastructure and the economy.
We invite the public into our studio and gallery from 1:00pm until 6:00pm for the event opening in conjunction with the Regina Street Commons Earth Day Festival. Please join us in the gallery at 6:00pm for performances from local hip-hop and spoken word artist, Ayna Leigh who will share a powerful poetic performance, and local Haudenosaunee singer Cara Loft who will also perform with her drum on the topic of the rising feminine.
Visual artists featured this year include: Patrick Hunter, Aura, Smiling Water, Chris Winterson, Amara Hollowbones, Andrea Hildebrand, Linda Brine, Catherine Dallaire, Kevin Gadomski, and Miigizi.
